The Matchmaker Scheme
The scheme works by ‘matching’ empty homes for sale with buyers.
The council holds two lists; one of potential buyers and one of owners interested in selling their empty property. There is information relating to the location, property type, and approximate purchase value.
Interested buyers can sign up to the scheme and will be contacted when an empty property, matching their requirements, becomes part of the scheme.
How to Join
Empty home owner
Have a property but can’t invest in repairs or renovation? Then list it for free and we will show it to a list of investors who could potentially buy it.

Buying / Developer
If you are interested in purchasing an empty home, the Property Matchmaker Scheme can help you find the property that is right for you. Let us know if there is a particular empty property that you are interested in purchasing or investing in – with your consent we can pass your contact details onto the owner. We will also be looking for properties across the county and when we find them we will then notify you to give you the opportunity to see if you want to invest.
To register to receive information on empty properties then fill out our Buyer / Developer Registration Form here.
For confidentiality purposes no personal details are published on the website and any negotiations and/or sales take place directly between the seller and buyer.
The Council will not seek to verify the accuracy of any property information that has been provided and will accept no responsibility for any inaccuracies or omissions.
Following introduction the Council has no involvement in negotiations or conveyancing. You should take independent legal advice on the purchase/sale of properties to ensure that the necessary checks and safeguards are followed to protect your investment. This includes checking that the necessary planning and building regulation permissions have been granted.
