Financial support for Monmouthshire residents – Welsh Government Grant Scheme
If your home has been flooded by Storm Bert or Storm Darragh, you can get up to £1,000 in help.
Local Councils are administering the Emergency Financial Assistance Scheme on behalf of the Welsh Government. This financial support provides £500 for households with insurance or £1,000 for households that are not insured. To apply for this funding, you will need to complete a short application form.
To qualify, the property must be your primary residence, and the internal living space (e.g. living room, bedroom, kitchen, etc) has been subject to flooding as a direct consequence of Storm Bert or Storm Darragh.
Flooding to gardens, garages, outbuildings, porches, etc are excluded.
Eligibility is restricted to owners/occupiers of residential properties and is not available to landlords. Empty properties and second homes are also not eligible for this financial support.
To apply, you will need to supply the following information:
- Full name
- Address of affected property
- Council Tax reference
- Bank account details of the bank account the payment is to be made to
- Household insurance details where applicable (company name and policy number)
If you require help in completing this form, please let us know by calling our Contact Centre on 01633 644644.
To complete and process your application, we must verify that your property was flooded against our records.
If you cannot move back into your home due to the flooding, you may also be eligible for council tax relief for up to six months. If you wish to apply for this relief, please contact the Shared Revenues Service by emailing counciltax@monmouthshire.gov.uk or by telephone: 01633 644630.
