Important things to remember when using your blue badge
- Your Blue Badge must be displayed on top of the dashboard or fascia panel of the vehicle where it can be clearly read.
- The parking clock should always be used when there is a limit on the amount of time you can park at a location. It is always good practice to display the clock if you are unsure whether you need to or not.
- The side showing the wheelchair symbol must face forward so the expiry date is legible from outside the vehicle and the time of arrival must be set on the clock.
- If you do not display the badge properly, you may be given a parking ticket.
- When no parking concessions are being used, badges/clocks/wallets should be removed from view so they do not provide a target for thieves.
- If a parking enforcement officer asks you to show them the badge, you are required by law to do so. If you don’t, you can face prosecution and a fine of up to £1,000.
Every badge holder will have a Rights and Responsibility booklet that explains the Blue Badge Scheme.
All expired badges should be handed into your Community Hub or posted to the Contact Centre
Deceased Blue Badge Holders
If the badge holder passes away please return the Blue Badge to your Community Hub, posted to the Contact Centre or given to Registrars if using the Tell Us Once (TUO) service
