MEET THE TUTOR: Kate Evans BA Fine Art/ MFA Art Practice

As long as I can remember, drawing has been an integral part of my life. As a child and on to adulthood the way person draws a subject always varies to whomever else may be drawing within the same room drawing the same subject. This is what has always fascinated me. I see drawing a way of seeing and we all appear to view the world in a way that is unique unto ourselves.

I transfer both my technical knowledge and the 11 years’ experience as a life model into teaching practice when leading figure drawing sessions. I am sympathetic to the energy of the model’s pose and of the studio energy while attendees are defining the form in their chosen medium.

My intention is to enable each individual to make new discoveries. It is good to stay within a medium that helps drawing to excel, but it is equally important to begin new paths of exploration. How is this new material reacting? What way can I use this?

My artistic work is intensely related to the act of drawing and of the figurative. Each session that I tutor is tailored to suit all levels of ability and important emphasis is placed on individual tuition and development.
