Monmouthshire County Council (MCC) and the Gwent Association of Voluntary Organisations (GAVO) are working together to ensure that TogetherWORKS can continue supporting the wide range of community organisations that are active in Caldicot supporting residents.
Due to changes in the grants available from the UK Shared Prosperity Funding, it was not possible to continue the same level of financial support towards TogetherWORKS for 2025/26. Last week, it was announced that TogetherWORKS will receive £46,000 to assist in transitioning to a more self-sustaining business model for the future.
MCC and GAVO are now pleased to confirm that additional support will also be provided.
MCC has confirmed that TogetherWORKS can continue using its current building on Woodstock Way, Caldicot, for the upcoming financial year under the existing arrangements.
GAVO will fund a full-time staff member through the Shared Prosperity Funding of £46,000 to support ongoing community initiatives. Additionally, GAVO will fund two other positions through a contribution from a local environmental charity, SEWales Energy.
The council and GAVO acknowledge the importance of the community and local groups using the TogetherWORKS facility and are dedicated to ensuring these resources remain accessible.
Cllr Paul Griffiths, MCC Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Planning and Economic Development, said, “We will continue to work in partnership with GAVO to allow TogetherWORKS to continue operating in the next financial year. Our shared aim is to serve all those local organisations which are the backbone of the community.”
Stephen Tiley, Chief Executive Officer of GAVO, said, “The support for TogetherWORKS from the community, groups and users has been overwhelmingly positive and we are really pleased we have been able to work with MCC and our charitable benefactor to ensure that TogetherWORKS can continue to offer much needed support to the wider community of Caldicot. We look forward to working with TogetherWORKS and partners to ensure its sustainability into the future.”
