Foster Carers in Monmouthshire were the guests of honour an appreciation event recently, thanking them for their service.
The event was an opportunity for Monmouthshire foster carers to come together and allow us to thank them for all the amazing work they do in providing loving and nurturing homes for children in care.
The event was one of the key events during Foster Care Fortnight,13th and 26th May.
The Fostering Network’s annual campaign aims to raise awareness of the need for foster carers and show how fostering transforms lives and raise the profile of fostering.
Nearly 200 Monmouthshire children are in care. While most of our children who are looked after live locally with loving foster carers, many live far away or in children’s homes because there are not enough foster carers homes.
We need to recruit more than 30 new foster families by 2027 to provide welcoming homes for local children.
If you feel you could make a difference to a child’s life by offering them a home, or if you want to find out more about fostering for Monmouthshire, contact our team today.
We’d love to hear from people from all different backgrounds. People who could offer a home to babies, siblings, children with additional needs, and teenagers are particularly encouraged to get in touch – however, whatever you feel you could offer, contact us for an initial discussion.
By becoming a foster carer with Foster Wales Monmouthshire, you will help ensure local children and young people stay in their community, close to the people and places that matter to them. You can contact the team today: https://fosterwales.monmouthshire.gov.uk/contact-us
