Electoral services are responsible for compiling the electoral roll as well as the conduct of all elections and referenda held within the county of Monmouthshire. This includes:

• compiling and publishing the electoral roll annually
• the administration of postal and proxy voting
• maintaining lists of service and overseas electors
• promoting participation in democracy and electoral boundary issues

Electoral Register

To add your details to the electoral roll you can do so online at www.gov.uk/registertovote or contact electoral services for an application form.

Voter ID

At some elections voters will be required to show photo identification in the polling station before they are allowed to vote. More information on voter id, how it is applied and how we can help is available here.

Postal and Proxy Voting

If you cannot attend a polling station on polling day to cast your vote you can apply to vote by post or appoint a person to vote on your behalf. You will need to complete an application form in order to set up a different method of voting.

Boundary Review

Review of Electoral Arrangements

The Local Democracy and Boundary Commission for Wales have conducted a review of the electoral arrangements for the County of Monmouthshire. They have published the final proposals for new County Seats which will take effect at the 2022 local elections. Further information is available on their website.
