Caldicot Castle was the location of the annual Monmouthshire’s Young Carers Forum family fun day.
On Tuesday, 30 July, the forum, supported by Monmouthshire County Council’s Young Carers team, hosted a day of relaxing and fun activities for young carers and their families while providing an opportunity to speak to officers about the support available.
The Monmouthshire Young Carers team is in place to support, provide guidance, and provide social activity opportunities to all young carers across the county to ensure no young carer feels alone. The dedicated team supports young carers under the age of 18 with life skills. These include cooking sessions, ironing and sewing skills, sports, and well-being sessions.
You can learn more about the services the team provides here: https://www.monmouthshire.gov.uk/social-care/carers-project/young-carers/.
If you’re a young carer or are the parent or guardian of a young person who has caring responsibilities, get in touch with the Young Carers team by emailing youngcarers@monmouthshire.gov.uk.
Monmouthshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Social Care, Safeguarding and Accessible Health Services, Cllr Ian Chandler, said: “Providing support to our young carers in our community is crucial. They provide fantastic support to their loved ones every day. The Family Fun Day organised by the forum allowed us to thank them for all they do while providing them and their families an opportunity to relax and socialise with others across the county.”
