Monmouthshire County Council has issued a statement following the publication of the Burns report.
Cllr. Catrin Maby, Cabinet Member for Climate Change and the Environment said: “We remain committed to the delivery of the recommendations of Lord Burns and the creation of an improved and fully integrated public transport and active travel network in South East Wales, and are delighted to endorse the second annual report. We welcome the collaborative approach of this work which has enabled good progress to be made on the proposed Magor Station and proposed access and service improvements to Severn Tunnel Junction.
“We very much look forward to seeing the start of the delivery phase and will continue to pursue the South East Wales Commission’s recommendation to provide an access from the M48 to the Severn Tunnel Junction station to maximise the benefits of the proposals, and minimise the risk of increased congestion on local roads.”
