Services for the Visually Impaired.
All Community Hubs have:
- Large print books
- Books on CD (no charge for the blind or partially-sighted)
- Accessible computer facilities: large screens and a big keys keyboard
There is an Aladdin Reader in Monmouth Community Hub for customers who need the text in books or documents enlarged.
For visually impaired customers who are unable to visit a library, we have a Home Delivery Service that can deliver large print and/or audiobooks. Please contact our Outreach Officer at Caldicot Community Hub for more details.

The Royal Institute of Blind People (RNIB) is one of the UK’s leading sight loss charities and the largest community of blind and partially sighted people. Calibre Audio is a national charity lending free audiobooks to anyone who is print disabled. A print disability is a difficulty or inability to read printed material where someone is unable to see, read, manipulate or comprehend the text. This can include:
- A learning disability, such as dyslexia;
- A brain injury or cognitive impairment such as head trauma or stroke;
- A vision impairment or blindness;
- A physical dexterity problem such as multiple sclerosis (MS), Motor Neurone Disease (MND), Parkinson’s disease, arthritis, paralysis or terminal illness
